Full Itinerary

On arrival at Zanzibar Airport, you will be met by one of our representatives and transferred to your hotel or resort in Stone Town for checking in formalities. Depending on the time of your arrival, your local guide will take the time to introduce you to the historic heart of the island, where carved doors, coral stone buildings, and quiet courtyards reflect centuries of trade and cultural exchange. After check in at the lodge, resort, or hotel, the rest of the day is yours to relax, allowing time to settle in, take a short walk nearby, or rest.

Meal Plan: Lunch and Dinner

Following breakfast at the hotel, your local guide will pick you up for a Stone Town city tour, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Over the centuries, many cultures have left their impressions on Zanzibar and it is perhaps in Stone Town where you can most easily see their influences. The tour begins at the Fruit Market, followed by visits to the Cathedral, the former Slave Market, the Sultan’s Palace, Tippu Tip’s House, the Old Arabic Fort, the Freddie Mercury House, Forodhani Park, and the famous Zanzibar doors found along the petite streets.

Around midday, you drive to Kidichi for a spice tour on local farms. Here you see, feel, and taste tropical fruits and spices grown on the island. If you wish, palm leaf accessories such as ties, rings, bracelets, and glasses can be made for you. The farm also offers an opportunity to purchase fresh spices directly from the source.

After the spice visit, lunch is served at a local home, often pilau or biryani rice. After the tour, you will be transferred to your hotel for dinner, an evening at leisure.

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

In the morning after breakfast, your local guide picks you up from your hotel in Stone Town and transfer you to Fumba Village, where the Safari Blue trip starts. This is a full day of sailing, snorkeling, and sunbathing aboard a traditional dhow, with time set aside for a seafood barbecue.

After setting sail from Fumba, you explore Menai Bay, where dolphins are often seen. The boat anchors at Kwale Sandbank, allowing time to relax, swim, and snorkel. Quality snorkeling equipment will be provided, and experienced guides will be on site to lead you over coral reefs rich with tropical marine life. They will be of great help if you are inexperienced participant.

Enjoy fresh coconuts and local snacks offered during in the course of the day. At Kwale Island, seafood lunch is will be served in the afternoon, before the return trip journey follows by a traditional lateen sail. On arrival back in Fumba, your guide drives you back to the hotel in Stone Town for the night.

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

After breakfast at your hotel, you will be picked up by your local guide and begin the day with a trip to Prison Island, also known as Changuu Island. The trip by a traditional dhow offers a brief intro to the coast and the surrounding waters that link the island to Stone Town’s history.

On arrival, you will take part in a guided visit to the former prison building, originally constructed in the late 19th century during the colonial era under British rule and later used for quarantine purposes rather than long term detention. You will also visit the sanctuary for giant Aldabra tortoises, some of which are over a century old. After spending time exploring the island and its shoreline, you will head back to your hotel for lunch.

Following lunch, you will drive about 38 kilometers southeast of Stone Town to Jozani Forest, best known as the home of the endemic Kirk’s red colobus monkey. The forest contains swamp areas, evergreen thickets, and mangroves, supporting species such as Sykes monkeys, bush pigs, and a wide range of birdlife. A guided walk will allow you to observe these habitats before returning to your Stone Town hotel later in the day.

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

After breakfast at your hotel, you will be transferred to Abeid Amani Karume International Airport for your onward flight. Depending on your departure schedule, you will have time for simple activities during the morning, such as a short walk along the beach, a final swim, or some quiet time at the hotel. If your flight is later in the day, lunch will be arranged before departure, allowing a relaxed close to your stay in Zanzibar.
