January to March (High Season)

This is the prime period for wildlife viewing, especially in the Southern Serengeti, where the Great Migration’s calving season takes center stage. Although it warm and generally dry, expect occasional showers, especially in March.

The long rains are in full swing, and many lodges close due to impassable roads. However, landscapes are lush, and there are fewer tourists, making this a quiet and budget-friendly time to visit.

Dry weather prevails, making it the perfect time for safaris across Tanzania. The cooler temperatures are ideal for climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro or exploring the Ngorongoro Highlands. It’s also peak season for the Northern Safari Circuit and across the country, with plenty of wildlife activity and minimal rainfall.

The short rains begin in late October, but they practically don’t disrupt travel much. The landscapes are greener, and animals are still easy to spot. December is also warm and pleasant, especially along the coast, making it a good time for beach holidays.
