Full Itinerary
- Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire National Park
Upon landing at Arusha Reginal Airport, you will be met by your driver-guide for the trip to Tarangire National Park. After registering at the park gate, your game viewing adventure begins. The park gets its name from the Tarangire River, which is the centerpiece of the park. Legend has it that this is one of the most famous game reserves that hosts some of the largest herds of elephants in Africa. Here you may see lion, leopard, cheetah, lesser kudu, buffalo, Oryx, eland, giraffe and zebra.
Tarangire captivates with its sweeping landscapes adorned by ancient baobab trees, fever tree forests, and shimmering swamps. It also hosts about 500 of bird species, making it the most reliable destination for bird lovers in East Africa.
Post the game drive, we will head to the lodge in early evening where comfort awaits you. There is time to freshen up for pre-dinner drinks. Relax around the fire and swap stories about day’s activities before dinner.
Meals Plan: Lunch, Dinner
- Day 2: Tarangire Half Day – Ngorongoro Highlands
Today begins after breakfast, followed by a half day game drive in the park. The park is best known for its distinctive landscape, quite similar to that of Serengeti. One of the most noticeable landmarks in Tarangire is the baobab tree, which can make even animals such as giraffes appear like specks of dust. The river from which the park draws its name attracts a wide range of wildlife, including elephants, giraffes, lions, antelope, and zebra. Enjoy an immersive game drive until late afternoon, when we return to the lodge in time for lunch and checkout formalities.
On our way out of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, we take in a final game drive to the park gate. After checking out, we continue on a scenic road trip to the lodge, arriving in time for some downtime, dinner, and a good night’s sleep.
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
- Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater – Back to Arusha - Farewell
Today starts quite early in the morning, so we can take advantage of the morning condition when the wildlife is still at its most active state in the crater. Following breakfast, we check out of the lodge with our packed lunch and make a descent into the crater floor.
The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest inactive, intact, and unfilled volcanic caldera. It has a massive floor with a depth of over 2,000 feet. Today’s game drive will be an action-packed experience. It is important that you keep your camera ready at all times. The African Big 5: elephant, buffalo, Black rhino, lions, and leopard are found in plenty.
Following a picnic lunch at the beautiful Hippo Pool, we will begin a steep ascent to the crater walls and start a road trip back to Arusha. You will be dropped off at the Kilimanjaro International Airport in the evening for your onward flights. With an incredible experience and unforgettable memories to cherish, this is the time you bid goodbye to your Heavenly Horizons safari team.
